Why Short E Games Matter Now

After reading the free short-E sample (1 of 5 stories in our book), kids need playful repetition to lock in blending. These games use household items, take 5-10 minutes no worksheets required.

Game 1: Bedtime /e/ Hunt

What you need: Nothing!

How to play: Before bed, hunt for 5 red things. Say each with exaggerated /e/: "RE-e-ed!" Child repeats.

Why it works: Multisensory, seeing red + hearing /e/ = instant recall.

Game 2: Egg Hunt Relay

What you need: Plastic eggs or cups.

How to play: Hide 10 "eggs." Each has a short-E word: egg, hen, web, ten, pen. Child finds and sounds out each word.

Why it works: Movement

Game 3: /e/ I Spy

What you need: Your voice.

How to play: "I spy something re-e-ed. Child guesses, then takes a turn. Play until 10 words found.

Why it works: Builds listening + instant blending in real environment.
